When we get a DAF gift are we supposed to credit it in our records to the DAF entity or to the individual fund donor?

We give the credit to the DAF fund but we also give a “soft” credit in our records to the individual who recommended the donation. It is my understanding that we are required to credit and thank the DAF fund. The individual gets the credit when they give the fun’s to the DAF.

I would agree with Kendell. The entity/person listed as the checking account holder is the donor/grantor. The soft credit is the optional record for tracking touch points with donors.

We record the donation under the donor account (on Salesforce) but provide the payment credit/payer to the DAF. We then send just a thank you letter to the donor (no tax receipt).
